MTR subway system is the best choice of transportation getting to your destination on time, especially during rush hour. Together with other public transportation systems of bus, taxi, street tram, ferry and mini-bus, you can go virtually anywhere in town. If you take MTR Airport Express, there is free shuttle bus service at Kowloon Station and Hong Kong Station to and from local hotels. You can also check in your flights and luggages at either station. MTR fares and tourist package information is available at MTR Website.

Octopus card is a very convenient value added debt card accepted by all modes of public transportation except taxi. You may consider having one to get around town.

If you cross a harbor tunnel by taxi, you need to pay round trip tolls. Taxi does not stop at curbside with double yellow line.

If you have an unlocked GSM phone, you can get a disposable SIMM card at 7-Eleven and convert it to a local cell phone.

A 10% service charge is usually added to your food bill except fast food restaurants, Cha Chaan Teng’s and most noodle shops.

Always keep a small personal bag of paper tissues.
